Windows Messenger Setup Instructions

Warning: only Windows XP can have both Windows Messenger and MSN Messenger installed at the same time

Instructions for Messenger outside the Elyria office

Step #1

Download the messenger program for Windows 2000 & XP  or Windows 98 & ME

Save it to your desktop.

Step #2

Double click the messenger.msi file to install the program.

Accept the agreement.

Watch the status bar roll through.

Click Finish

Step #3

Start the Windows Messenger program and you will see the window below.

After Clicking there to sign in you will see the box below. Choose "Exchange Messaging Service".

Signing in must be very specific. If your e-mail is pmoran@elbc.net your  e-mail for this will be pmoran@web.elbc.net

Clicking ok will appear to have failed the login. This is expected.

In the E-mail  you will put your login before @web.elbc.net  and your username will be simply your login to your e-mail.

Your password will be the same as the password for your e-mail.

Leave the domain field blank.

Once you have succesfully logged in you will see the window below.

To add contacts click the "Add a Contact" link in the lower section of the window.

All contacts use the persons login name followed by @web.elbc.net

Instructions for setting up Windows Messenger from Inside the Elyria Office

Step #1

Start Windows Messenger (either by Clicking the icon in the tray or finding it in the start button.

Step #2

Click the link in the window to sign in.

Step #3

Choose the Exchange Messaging Service

Step #4

Use your login name followed by @web.elbc.net

You are now ready to add users to your list.
