How to set up Outlook 2007 to send and
receive e-mail for ELBC outside the Elyria office
Step 1: This is just the intro. Click Next

Step2: Outlook is a personal information manager it does far more than just e-mail but in this example choose yes.

Step 3: Check the box to manually configure as the standard setup will not allow you to send an e-mail

Step 4: Choose internet e-mail as show below

Step 5:Fill in the information as seen below using your assigned e-mail address and password. Then click "More Settings"
Step 6: Fill in as seen below: The First box is an identifier to help you see which e-mail account in your outlook account list (assuming you have outlook checking more than one account) The second two boxes help e-mail programs identify your e-mail. Be certain the reply e-mail is correct as many e-mail programs use this to determine how to reply to your e-mail.

Step 7:This step is very important. if you do not check this box as show below you will not be able to send an e-mail. Your outlook must identify to the e-mail server to be allowed to send an e-mail.

Step 8: Set the delivery option if you desire to be able to access your e-mail via the web if you do not have access to your computer (examples might be for sales staff to access their e-mail from a clients office)

Step 9:Clicking ok and next will bring you to this dialog below but we are not done just yet

Step 10: Check these as seems best for you. None of these are required but if you use the help feature a lot I recommend checking at least the first option

Step 11: I recommend choosing no to this option

Step 12: If you like RSS feeds Outlook makes a good feed reader. choose no if you do not want RSS or do not know what RSS is.

Last step: Be sure to turn off the reading pane and preview feature for your inbox, junk mail folder, and deleted items folder. This will allow you to delete possibly infected e-mail without automatically opening them. The preview feature automatically opens an e-mail.
